Here is how Melanie describes her life:
I do the writing (and most of the photography) here at Travels With Two. Adam owns an entertainment advertising company, which keeps him busy an average of 60 hours a week. We have a house, a garden, a dog and a large circle of friends. Our families are spread out amongst the east and west coasts of the United States, and we visit (and travel with) them as often as we can. In short, it can be complicated for us to get away together. So, we prioritize it in small chunks of the future, like teeth cleanings and tire rotations…only with more joy. Sometimes our trips take us across town and sometimes across the world, but they’re always driven by a desire to reconnect and have new experiences that become part of our story.
Please connect with Melanie and Adam at any of these locations on line, and be sure to follow Travels with Two on Twitter (and follow Adam too!) for updates before, during, and after their stay here in the Hawaiian Islands.

Our next New Media Artist to visit Lānaʻi is Sheila Beal, creator of the Go Visit Hawaii blog. Though her home base is North Carolina, Sheila has a tremendous enthusiasm for visiting the Aloha State. Her articles resonate with visitors because they are all written from the visitor’s perspective. She understands the challenges of planning a vacation to Hawaiʻi based on her own experiences and so she’s able to help visitors make their plans in a very practical way.
Sheila’s husband, Andy, provides the photography and videos for Go Visit Hawaii. Together, they’re a dynamic duo for Hawaii vacation planning.

ColoradoGal Kara Williams, of The Vacation Gals blog, lives in the Colorado Rockies with her husband and two young children. She and her family regularly travel to either U.S. coast, Mexico or Hawaii for their annual “beach fix.” As proud owners of a beat-up pop-up camper, they take loads of family camping trips around Colorado and neighboring states in the warm-weather months. (But she counts spa getaways with girlfriends among her all-time favorite weekend escapes — shhhhh!) Kara is an experienced writer for both traditional media and new media. YOu can find her at such diverse places as Everyday with Rachel Ray, Working Mother, and US Airways Magazine! Please connect with Kara at any of these locations on line, and be sure to follow her on Twitter for updates before, during, and after her stay here in the Hawaiian Islands. Gary has been traveling and blogging around the world since March 2007. The road is his official home.
The idea of traveling around the world wasn’t something that gradually dawned on me. It all rather happened in an instant. Once I had the idea, I knew it was something I had to do. That happened about two years before I left on my trip. I had an internet consulting firm I sold back in 1998. Since then I’ve been involved in online gaming and helped found a business intelligence software company. I also spent the two years prior to my trip studying geology at the University of Minnesota (I’m actually a few credits shy of my geology degree). My travel history prior to this trip was a mixed bag. I never saw salt water until I was 21 when I saw Puget Sound in Seattle. I often tell that to people I meet while traveling and it blows them away. Wisconsin and Minnesota are a long way from the ocean.
Gary is also one of three hosts of the popular travel podcast, This Week in Travel, which also includes Jen Leo of the LA Times Travel Blog and Chris Christensen of The Amateur Traveler. Listen to Episode #75 to learn more about this New Media Artist-in-Residence Program.
Please connect with Gary at any of these locations on line, and be sure to follow him on Twitter for live updates while he is here in the Hawaiian Islands. He will be traveling to the island via ferry, courtesy of Expedtions. I wonder how long the internet connection will last en route?

Shannon was our inaugural New Media Artist-in-Residence and she burst on the scene with incredible energy and enthusiasm! We hope you will want to read all she has written and watch her videos - they give you her unique "Traveling Mama" perspective on visiting the precious island of Lānaʻi.
Here is a list of her blog entries. Please do leave a comment while you are there (or here!) and let us all know what you think about the people, places, and adventures of Lānaʻi.

Postscript: have you noticed that the titles of these blog entries use a different sort of syntax? It's because we are writing for two audiences. Each blog entry also creates a link on Twitter (automagically!) and the subject of the article becomes the Twitter message. So you will often see Twitter names (@something) and/or a hashtag (#something) included!
Matt's journey to Hawaii will be via @Delta and @IslandAirDotCom.

Shannon and Bret's trip was delayed today by mechanical problems via American Airlines. She missed her connection to Lāna‘i which meant an overnight at the airport in Honolulu.
But being a glass half full kind of person, Shannon kept smiling as she kept me posted on her change notes. Lucky for me, I was able to hop over to HNL and meet her in person! One thing is for sure: a massage at the Four Seasons Manele Bay is going to feel even better tomorrow! You can Visit Lanai with Shannon this week by following her on Twitter or following the #VisitLanai hash tag around the web. http://twitter.com/Cajun_mamaVisit the enticing island of Hawaiʻi, Lānaʻi. We are currently hosting a New Media Artist-in-Residence Program and welcome you to join our online conversation - just follow the tag #VisitLanai.
